XCAL Shooting Sports and Fitness

Xcal has the best shooting range and staff in the area! I went with a group of 6 to celebrate a bachelor party and had an amazing time! Guillermo was a great help checking us in and making sure we had everything we needed for the range. We rented a .50 cal to have some extra fun and Guillermo instructed us on how to properly shoot it and what to expect. He is a professional instructor, very knowledgeable, and super friendly. Our experience at Xcal will be unforgettable and we couldn’t thank Guillermo enough for making bachelor party even better!

We had a great experience at Xcal! I took my family to Xcal for shooting lessons. We are first-time. Our instructor Brian was excellent, and very helpful and professional! He taught us the basics and was detailed throughout. The director Bruce was very professional and accommodative in our communication and scheduling the class for us. All the staff members that we interacted with were friendly. Xcal has gym and self-defense classes as well. The equipment looked well-maintained and clean.

I tried this place out even though I have a Silver Eagle Group (SEG) membership, bc the last few times at was at SEG, there were too many dudes with shottys and the blowback was just not fun for me. Facility is nice and clean. Dampening walls are really good (you won’t be bothered blowback). Range is spacious and well lit. Good product selections. The cafe has good food too! However, there’s pretentious vibe about it. It leans more towards the health club side than gun range side. I don’t think LEOs do their official training here. I asked to use the range for 2 hours but was told that I would need to leave the range at around the 1 hour mark to check with the front desk to see if space is available. That doesn’t make any sense. At SEG, you use the full numbers of hours that you pay for. And people will just have to wait their turns. My carbine jammed due to a double feed and I tried to rack it multiple times at first to try and get the bullets out and the RSO checked me instead of asking what’s wrong. No mag in. Safety on. Gun pointed down range. I did lock the slide after and finally got the misfeed out. When this happened at SEG before, the RSO was super nice about it and tried to help me unjam it. At one point, there was no RSO in the range, they were all huddled in the office looking out. That shouldn’t have been allowed. You always need at least one RSO on site. Silver Eagle almost always has 2 ROs present at each end of the range. There was a huge group of people at one booth standing close to each other even near the person shooting too. That was wild. They should have been told to step back behind the line. They didn’t look like they had an instructor with them either. Overall, I like the facility and the amenities, but I don’t think I’ll come back. I almost considered joining but the experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. Back to SEG and the shottys I guess Those dampening walls are awesome tho!
