Customer Reviews
I've said before in prior reviews - this 5-star system is tough. I give Val Halla a 4.8. I couldn't go to 5 because of a few things, and 1 they can do something about and 1 they can't. The pace of play was slow. They can impact that through management. That's my only negative comment, and we finished in 4:30, so it wasn't terrible, but it was unnecessary. Having said that - please note; it does my heart proud to see a lot of players walking and this course will take some time with the undulations and hills. So that is a trade-off and I like to see it. The 1 thing they can't fix is the driving range. It has netting at the end, but the left side is shorter than the right. If you're on the left you're going to be warming up with a maximum of a 6-iron, and the right side might allow a 3-wood if you're a shorter hitter. Again - you still get to hit shots and warm up, but the range is limited in space. Now, the good stuff. The course is magnificent IMHO. I've played a lot of golf, and it's beautiful, it is challenging for all skill levels, and it is well-maintained. There's a lot of divots but they get a lot of play. The greens rolled smoothly and true, and it was a delight to play. The clubhouse is nice and the restaurant is top notch. It was a great time here. I would play here often if I didn't live 1,600 miles away. Definitely worth the time and fun to play.
Played here for the first time last week. Beautiful course, excellent shape from tees to greens. Greens were areated week and a half before we played and were fantastic. Staff was friendly and courteous. Greens fees were reasonably priced. Special thanks to Bill a member there who played with us. He was like having a caddie with all the tips on where to hit off tee and reading greens. Will definitely be back next year on vacation.
Great spot! Course layout is a bit unconventional, fairways and greens were in very good condition but they were hard and fast. Public course so pace of play can vary. Nice clubhouse with a restaurant and bar.
