Seriously, Arlington? Just like Warren reviewed 6 years ago, it seems nothing has changed. How do you justify building the entire Long Bridge Park with numerous soccer fields, a $70 million aquatic center but can't maintain the existing facilities in the county. Never has tennis been more disrespected than the last few years. Look at the condition of these courts. Yet, the county finds the funds to put up expensive sound barriers for the annoying giant plastic pingpong game? Funds for artificial turf soccer fields with state of the art lighting. It's time that the Arlington Parks and Recreation department make their spending more transparent. This is not equity. It's unfair. When Eric Legge was here, the tennis courts were safe and well maintained. He helped protect the community investment. Millions were spent to install all of the County tennis courts. It would be nice to have better stewards of community property. Is the DPR grossly incompetent, deliberately neglecting maintenance of the tennis facilities so that pickleball can push out basketball and tennis? Neglect? Incompetence? Or both?
There are always courts available, but the lights barely work. They cut on and off while youโre playing and theyโre very dim. I dont understand how the soccer field has amazing lighting and the tennis courts are the complete opposite. Someone needs to fix this ASAP
Courts are usually available, but the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department (APRD) obviously cares more about their precious soccer fields than they do about their tennis courts. Whereas there's not a single light out on the soccer fields, only 8 of 32 lights on the four tennis courts are working! Whereas the soccer fields were ripped up and replaced entirely with new turf, there are cracks on each of the four courts. APRD should be ashamed of themselves for their shabby treatment of its community's tennis players!
