Southern Hills Country Club

From the moment I turned off 61st Street and drove up the winding entrance lined with old trees, I knew Southern Hills Country Club was going to be something special. The grounds are immaculately kept—lush fairways that look like emerald carpets, flowerbeds perfectly arranged around the clubhouse, and staff who greet you with a genuine smile before you even reach the front door. As a guest, I felt welcomed rather than like an outsider, which is not always the case at private clubs. Clubhouse & Atmosphere The clubhouse is a stately, elegant building with just the right mix of classic and contemporary décor. Inside, there’s a warmth that comes from dark wood trim, historical photos, and huge windows that let in natural light with sweeping views of the 18th green. Everything is spotless, from the locker rooms to the restaurants. The staff addressed me by name after check-in, a little touch that made a big difference. Golf Course This course has a worldwide reputation, and after playing it I understand why major championships keep returning. Every hole offers a unique challenge—undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and lightning-fast greens that roll true. The par-3s are scenic but demanding, and the finishing stretch from 15–18 is breathtaking. The caddies know the course inside and out and gave me the perfect reads on putts. Even the practice facility felt like a tour-level venue, with pristine mats and endless short-game areas. Food & Beverage After my round I had lunch on the outdoor terrace, and the experience was just as memorable as the golf. The menu isn’t an afterthought—it’s creative, fresh, and beautifully presented. I ordered the house-smoked brisket sandwich with a local craft beer, and it might have been the best meal I’ve had at a club anywhere. The servers were attentive without hovering, and everything came out promptly despite a busy lunchtime crowd. Amenities & Service The locker rooms are more like boutique hotel suites, with spacious showers, high-end toiletries, and shoe service included. There’s also a gorgeous pool area and tennis complex that I only had time to walk through, but everything looked brand new. Every staff member—from the starter to the dining room manager—seemed genuinely invested in making sure guests had an excellent experience. That culture of service shows. Overall Impression Southern Hills Country Club lives up to its storied reputation in every way. It manages to feel both exclusive and welcoming—a place where tradition is respected but not stuffy. Whether you’re here to test your game on a championship course or simply enjoy the views over a meal, the experience is first-class from start to finish. If you ever have the chance to visit as a guest, take it. It’s not just a golf course; it’s a living piece of American golf history and hospitality. Would I return? In a heartbeat. Southern Hills sets the standard for what a private country club can be, and my day here will be a memory I’ll carry for a long time.

What's there not to say about this award winng country club! Always wonderful food woth wonderful people. Staff is always outstanding! Then there's the food. I have never had a normal meal. Always outstanding. Did not play golf. Was tgere for private gathering.

We hosted the Tulsa Public Schools Athletics Legends Foundation golf tournament here and it was wonderful. The staff was a pleasure to work with and their attention to detail was top notch. The food was spectacular and the course was in pristine condition.
