My 13yr-old son got fitted here recently and Sellinger's over-delivered every step of the way. It was our 1st experience getting fitted for clubs. Isaac Shear was awesome with my 13yr-old son; made my son feel at ease, made it a fun environment and an overall excellent experience. All the other staff members were friendly, happy and pleasant to be around. The fitting bays are equipped with the latest golf technology, clubs, shafts (You name it! They got it!). My son uses TaylorMade TP5 balls and they had those to enable accurate data with my son's swing. The 2-session (2 days) full bag fitting process was well worth the price and is highly recommended as there are plenty of swings to make any golfer tired - so do it over two days for your own benefit. The store has plenty of clubs in stock, lots of putters and some clothing too. I plan on getting fitted myself for clubs and without any doubt, I will go to Sellinger's. I highly recommend these guys for a fitting! Any of their fitting pros will be great to work with. We happened to get Isaac and couldn't be happier with him. Also, they have nice, clean bathrooms!
UPDATE: After writing this review, I immediately received a text from Mike at the Roanoke office, wanting to understand more about my experience and what he could do to make it right. I went back and they are going to rework the paint job this coming week and were able to actually remove the paint on the top of the putter so that I could use it that day. Assuming we get this done right the next time, I will change this review to five stars. I understand there are always hiccups, but how companies handle those hiccups is really what separates them. So far, they have handled this really professionally and I look forward to getting my putter fixed up this week. Thanks Mike and team! ORIGINAL: I’ll preface this by saying that I can tell from my initial experience and interactions with the staff before the work on my putter began was exceptional. They were very professional and spoke about their turnaround time which is definitely a huge selling point for them. However, after picking up and looking at the finished product, it was very subpar and actually looked like it was done by someone that was in a rush to get it done. The work I wanted done to my putter was to do a paint fill on my putter. I asked for the red coloring to be filled in with dark navy blue and Carolina blue (much like the Betttinardi antidote SB1 putter coloring. However, when I arrive to pick it up, I had to wait for 10 minutes for somebody to help me, and then when I finally did and they showed me the product I was very disappointed. Primary reasons for my disappointment are: 1) The dark navy blue coloring looks nothing like a typical dark navy blue. In fact, it’s more like a bright blue. It looks nothing like the Bettinardi putter picture that I had shown them and asked for (Which they said they could match). 2) The craftsmanship was very poor as well. Especially the alignment lines on top of the putter. You can see some slight bubbling, and looks like it would look if I had tried to done the work myself. 3) whenever I brought up my concerns, everyone just kind of shrugged their shoulders. I asked about the coloring, and they said that that was the darkest blue that they had. And then Wood just kind of look at me and really didn’t say another word. I voiced my concern a couple of other times and I would literally get zero reply/reaction for anyone. Long story long, is that I took a beautiful brand new putter, and it appears that I have ruined it. I read all the great reviews online about them, but perhaps customizing/coloring of golf clubs is just not their forte. I just wish I Would’ve been told that they had concerns about matching the color before I gave the go ahead to do the work. That, along with some sort of acknowledgment of my dissatisfaction. Hopefully anyone that is looking to go there for custom paint work read this and can learn from my experience here. I really did look forward to receiving the club, as I thought I had found a great place to go to for this sort of stuff, but obviously that was not the case in my experience. I am attaching some pictures for others to take heat of. It includes the paint work with my putter, and pictures of the Bernardi putter that we used as a guide for the coloring.
I was referred and made an appointment with Mike Rausch for me and my son. I have used the same clubs for 23+ years. It was a great experience! His knowledge of the game and amazing perceptions when watching the golfer is definitely a gift. He giggled as he would see something and he already had the answer. I hit at least 100 balls and tried 20 heads and equally as many shafts. They have a huge inventory of heads to try from every manufacturer. After hitting so many balls, the numbers didn’t lie. Mike was able to add about 20 yards to my shot! They had the clubs I wanted in stock and was able to fit them and have them ready in half an hour. I will return for my wood fitting soon and I’m anxious to see the results on the course. I have much more confidence. My son is just a beginner but Mike was able to adjust his grips and added 100 yards to his drive in just a few minutes. Also, Buzzy is a gym friend. If you need anything branded for golf tournaments, corporate giveaways, etc…this is the place.
