This is not a golf course I would recommend at any time. The greens are uneven. The fairways are undiscernable from the rough. The pace of play was abhorrent 2 hours and 40 minutes for nine holes. For the price, absolutely ridiculous . The older gentleman at the bar was not pleasant. The only good part about today was when it was over.
I really love what Prairie Pines has done with the course over the past two years — it’s in great shape and plays really well. The improvements are noticeable and make it a fun place to golf. That said, the biggest issue is time management. The pace of play is chronically slow. I’ve had at least two rounds of nine holes stretching close to three hours because league play isn’t a shotgun start. On weekends, it can be even worse — today we waited over 20 minutes on the tee box with 2 groups stacked up on the third hole’s Tee box in front of us. The pro was nice enough to give us a rain check and apologized for the extended delay, which I appreciated. But that still doesn’t fix the underlying issue. Unfortunately, there was no marshal around to help keep things moving. The course would really benefit from having a marshal during busy times to ensure rounds don’t stretch into six hours for 18 holes. As much as I enjoy the course conditions, I was looking at a membership here for next year but I can’t justify it given the time commitment it takes just to play a round at Prairie Pines
The course itself is in good shape. But the mismanagement is blatantly obvious. No rangers, multiple groups of 5+, league takes priority over the casual golfer. Again the course is quite nice but 2 hours 42 minutes for 9 is ridiculous on a weekday when u pay the prices to play there. Edit: Tried again today and walked off the course on hole 3 due to standing on hole 3 tee box for over 30 minutes. “Rangers” are kids and have no clue. This owner has serious problems here but I think the idea of owning a golf course is more important than actually making it great.
