Ahhh.... Pine Creek. A golfing experience so transcendent, so utterly delightful, that my soul now smells faintly of freshly cut bluegrass. A nine-hole jewel nestled right here in North Iowa like an oasis among the cornfields. But Pine Creek isn't just a golf course; it's a concentrated dose of pure, unadulterated golfing joy, perfectly portioned for the modern attention span. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with that classic Iowa hospitality, friendly faces, and an atmosphere so relaxed, you half expect a golden retriever to offer you a tee. The layout, PERFECT! Augusta doesn't have anything on Pine Creek. It's like Mother Nature herself decided to dabble in landscape architecture. Each hole is a unique adventure and at Pine Creek, you might just find yourself sharing the fairway with a family of deer, or having a philosophical debate with a particularly bold robin about the trajectory of your approach shot. And the greens! Oh, the greens! They're like little emerald carpets, lovingly maintained, with just enough subtle breaks to keep you guessing. You think you've got the speed? These greens will have you questioning the very laws of physics, in the most charming way possible. My three-putt on the sixth.... I'll get it in two next time. But the real charm of Pine Creek? The pace. Forget those sprawling behemoths where you spend more time waiting than swinging. Here, you're in and out before your beer gets warm. Plus, you get to play each hole twice if you want the full 18, which is brilliant! On round two you can really nail that disastrous first attempt, or, make it even more spectacularly bad. The possibilities are endless! So, if you're looking for a golf experience that's big on charm, short on time commitment, and guaranteed to leave you with a smile, then look no further than Pine Creek. It's not just a nine-hole course; it's a little slice of Iowa golfing heaven. The real field of dreams. Go. Play. You won't regret it.
We are fairly new to golfing and were eager to try a new place we haven't been before. When we walked in the old lady working was extremely rude from the start. Right off the bat without even saying hi asked how old our kids were and said they would be enforcing a new rule soon since they weren't older than 5 they wouldn’t be allowed. She said too many kids aren't educated on how to play golf and are tearing up the greens. They aren't allowed to be off of the golf cart either. Who's to say kids older than 5 wouldn't do that? They just make assumptions that kids under 5 are the only ones doing this? Then, we were paying and she got even more nasty and said just remember this isn't a playground for them. She continued to make a statement that said you need to make sure that the key is off at all times as if we don't know how to handle our OWN children. I wouldn't be so bothered if she came off as polite but her tone of voice was absolutely disgusting. She probably shouldn't accuse people unless she can clearly see someone is being destructive of the golf course. Anyone could destruct the greens on a golf course including kids older than five, teenagers and drunk adults. How are kids ever supposed to become educated if they can’t learn to play on an easier golf course? We went there to spend time as a family and were treated like trash because of our kids age. We decided to ask for a reimbursement and left. We will never recommend this place to anyone.
I love Pine Creek, the owners are very personable and accommodating. They are working hard to improve the condition of the course since they became owners, and the course is in good shape, better every time I play. To the person who complained about Mother's Day, the managers were fielding multiple complaints from other golfers concerning your slow play so they were trying to be accommodating to both you and I all of the golfers behind you. I understand that you needed to play slow, but when it takes a group over four hours to play 9 holes on a short course is unconscionably slow. I do not work for Pine Creek, just a member, but I want you to know that while you were very upset and feel justified in your review, your experience was not normal and the good people who own Pine Creek deserve to know that they are appreciated.
