Clean facility, nice change rooms but you have to bring your own lock. The sauna is really good it gets very hot. The tennis courts are also premium. The workout equipment is nice.
Very inflexible fitness club and poor customer service - I joined the gym for 1.5 months and barely used it. I found the gym was not a good fit for me personally and sent a polite email to see if I could cancel - I was informed that they would not reimburse the hefty initiation fee and that they would ALSO charge me for the full year! I have been a member of various gyms and boutique studios and have never had to pay a full year cancellation fee in addition to a $1K+ initiation fee (for 1.5 months of limited gym use). I would NOT recommend Mayfair as they don’t put the customer first - avoid at all costs!
Myself and two others (all working professionals) were looking for a fitness club and decided to tour Mayfair Lakeshore. Since we’ve recently gotten into golf, the idea of combining workouts with year-round use of the golf simulator was appealing. The membership manager who gave us the tour was extremely kind and did a great job showing us around. The club itself was nice, though a bit hectic and noisy with kids running around (understandable given their summer programs). The location worked well for us, so all three of us were ready to join. On top of standard membership, we were planning to upgrade to the executive change room and get regular golf simulator sessions (which come at additional costs). The only sticking point was the initiation fee. At ~ $1,000 (plus tax) for gym-only access — with no tennis, pickleball, or squash — it felt a little steep. We asked if they had any flexibility and could reduce the initiation fee by a couple hundred dollars. They flatly refused. Whilst that's well within their right, their willingness to lose three potential new members over a meager discount— especially when we would have added extra revenue through the add-ons — was a big turn-off so we'll be looking at alternative options. Added an extra star because the staff and membership manager we're super friendly.
