First time using the links at Overlake last week (Halloween 2025) The course is in great shape. Has a challenging layout and quick greens! Pro shop is a construction office trailer. The lady in the front office trailer (pro shop) needs some customer service lessons. Very rude! For a course presumably wanting people to use the golf course, and return often (perhaps join as a member), I would have expected a welcoming approach to first time users.
Update: Played a full round about a week ago finally. Stand by most my critiques but the back is a little better taken care of. The course is pretty easy. Probably, the easiest full par 72 I've played in Utah to be honest. Not a bad thing just keep that in mind. With the wind not blowing, I'd 100% recommend bug spray even this time of year. I cant imagine the summer but there were TONS of mosquitoes in early Nov. Only a couple holes have decent rough that could get you in trouble if you find yourself there (mostly the par 3s). With how dry and fast the fareways are, even without wind, several par 4's are drivable. My recommendation: Play the weekdays for the reduced price. I'd love to see this course improve and get better. If investments are still being made this could turn into a really good local course with a few adjustments. ‐------------ Ok im going to be brutally honest and as objectively as possible, but fair given what we have to work with in Tooele. Overall- Not bad. Especially if you can get out on a weekday. Its half the price and best part is they don't pair you up with anyone even if you are a single. Basically a semi-private course. **FRONT NINE REVIEW ONLY** (Was windiest day of the year so cut the round short. More on this later in "Difficulty". Will adjust review when I can hopefully get back out this week or next to play 18. Tee boxes - Great condition. Easy to maintain when so few play this course daily. Fairways - very very dry soil on the high points. Links style course so pretty hilly (for what they have to work with) but leaves the tops of the hill with that salty/dry soil we get out here. Making those tops very bare. I am sure its hard to keep these nice because of the are we are in and how few people work the course (my guess). Bunkers - Didn't actually end up in one that had sand, but the ones that had sand probably needed 50% more sand. The other "traps" were sandless and overrun by grass or weeds. Couldn't tell if its still under repair or if they are planning for changes in the spring Greens - Great condition. Hard to tell how quick it was with the wind. (Seriously had 45mph wind). Felt relatively quick though. Hazards and other Obs - Couple of holes with water. Fairways are pretty wide though so if you can hit it relatively well it doesn't actually really put much pressure on a decent golfer Proshop - Basically a single wide trailer. One guy was working when I was there today. I think he was also in charge of the range too so when my round ended and I went to go ask some questions, he wasn't there. To be fair, I was the only one on the course at that point. Carts - time to upgrade these. Gas powered which is great for maintenance im sure, but the one I was in probably went like 4 miles an hour. Id expect much better carts, with even range finders, if I was going to play those weekend prices. Cart paths - Paved along the hole, dirt in-between. 9/10. Id just pave the rest tbh. Difficulty - Pretty easy course. Not a single tree and wide Fairways. Rough is basically non-existent so if you keep it in bounds you can really score low. Facility in general - Hard to fault overall the facility. Seems like the course is either spinning back up or are trying to get more public players in to, my guess, bring in more money. Practice green and driving range - Haven't had a chance to use yet as I honestly didn't see it until after my round. Play again? - Absolutely
Pretty easy to get out on a weekday. Its a nice full size course. Good greens, generally in good shape
