My 16 year old went to public skating on Saturday with a friend for her birthday. She was the target of a group of older guys bullying and coming up behind her and pushing her down. She tried to deal with it on her own, but they didn't leave her alone and she ended up having a terrible time. Near the end of the session she tried to address it with who I believe is the manager or in some sort of position of authority. He said that because it was the end of the session he couldn't do anything about it even though she said she indicated pointing the group out of guys out. I called to talk to him and he basically said there was nothing he could do and it was my daughter's fault for not addressing it sooner. At 16 I understand she may not have used the best judgment, but when I asked, now that you know about it could you refund her money so she can come back to have a good experience, it was like I was asking for the moon. He was not agreeable to that and said it wasn't really something they do. He said he would take down my number, think about it and get back to me. I don't think I'll be hearing back and I'm disappointed that I can't trust that my kids are safe at this location if I'm not there-that the ice isn't being supervised well and bully's are able to repeatedly push someone down without anyone noticing. I'm pretty reasonable, but the lack of care for the situation was not kind and frankly a big disappointment in what I'd expect from a family friendly establishment.
Everytime we go here, the staff are friendly, the ice is clean, and the side games are fun. The batting cages and mini golf were a little lackluster, but go for ice skating anyways so who cares. I don't understand how you can misspell center though. Bonus points for the choccy milk in the vending machines.
This place used to be cool. Now to do a round of skating is $25, and you can't just got in and people watch because that is not free. They charge a cover of $18 just to go in and sit and watch people. On top of that, THEY DONT DISINFECT THE SKATES!!!! (confirmed with an employee) and they don't sharp them either, so you get cheap, plastic, crappy skates (see the picture). Will I come back - no! They price paid is not worth it.
