Holiday Inn Niagara Falls - by the Falls by IHG

When it comes to this hotel, location matters. Its a brief 10 minute walk from the Niagara falls with lots of places to eat nearby. The rooms are relatively modern in appearance, but have a few noticeable issues. The jet tub rooms are a good option for a couples weekend/get away. Shower is rather small, almost as small as phone booth. If you get a 6th floor room you will have a good view of the surrounding area, but sadly, no rooms at this hotel overlook Niagara falls. Beds are reasonably comfortable, and hotel in general is rather quiet and peaceful. The in-house bar/grill named "cocos" offers a reasonably priced breakfast, lunch and dinner options. They have a wood fire pizza oven and cocktail bar making it rather effortless to spend a few days here and not have to go outside to get a meal three times a day. During the warmer months, there is outdoor seating with a wood fire grill. Staff were friendly, and they will give you a meal voucher for Coco's if you arrange for it during your booking. Parking can be a challenge as the hotel parking lot is not large enough to accommodate all the guests if they hotel is booked. They give you a parking pass, but the lot is shared with the Skylon restaurant nearby, which can fill up at night making for a long walk, especially with luggage. While the physical location of the hotel is ideal, the parking at night became a daily frustration.

Location is great. A few minutes walk to the falls and many dining options. Staff are friendly. The rooms are clean. And like many mentioned the office chair is worn. The only issue I would have is you can hear everything. One thing that was different from other hotels are the floors are not carpeted. Sound will travel from your neighbors above. The whistle from the parking attendant can also be heard if you’re facing the parking lot. The walls are pretty thin too. Definitely can hear your neighbors. Overall it’s fine and for the price worth it. Stayed for one evening.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location—close to the Falls. Unfortunately, that’s where the good experience ends. The rooms look like cleanliness is optional here, and clearly not a priority. Breakfast? Not complimentary, of course. It’s an add-on you pay extra for, because why not charge more when guests are already disappointed. Parking is free, which is nice… but free parking doesn’t make up for poor rooms and lack of basic hygiene. Overall, I paid for a stay and got a lesson in lowered expectations. Definitely not a property I’d recommend unless location is the only thing you care about.
