Located right across the street from Highland National is its smaller 9-Hole sibling. Here you will find beautiful rolling fairways with large mature trees to greet you at every turn. This course is well-maintained and surprisingly challenging and for players of all levels. It features a modest (but sufficient) pro shop, updated carts, and a decent practice green for warm-up and practice.
I play this course multiple times a week, and I just so happen to read some of the poor reviews. I can’t help but wonder how much golf experience they have because this is one of the nicest executive courses you’ll find anywhere. Great staff as well.
Went with a couple friends to golf for the first time, we read that this is a good beginner course and I would agree. Well maintained and just challenging enough. However, our trip was a bit soured by a staff person named Brad (I believe). I made the mistake of happily announcing it was our first time and he literally said “Oh no.” It seemed like we were targeted as “annoying girls” after that. Of course we played slower for our first time, but we weren’t blocking anyone and let people pass as they caught up. At hole 6 he came towards us and asked, “Are you having fun? Because the people behind you aren’t.” He offered us 6 driving range tokens to leave the course. We respectfully declined since we were close to finishing and he said something along the lines of “Quit talking and hit the ball.” We don’t think others complained because the group behind us wasn’t even finished with hole 5 while we were already playing 6. He approached us head on instead of from behind so it seemed odd for him to say he just talked to the group behind us. I think he approached us during a brief moment of talking and didn’t like it. And the only reason we were talking is because people were still finishing 6 ahead of us. We sped through the rest of the course but still ended up in a traffic jam at the end so I think our original pace was fine. The staff inside the building were friendly. We really enjoyed our time besides that interaction which was lacking professionalism and came off sexist (we were the only group of women on the course). If you are going to ask us to leave the course, at least offer a full refund and be a little more respectful.
