Customer Reviews
Disappointed by employee behavior and priorities (despite a decent haul) I recently visited this Goodwill in South Portland with my fiancée and our well-behaved, leashed dogs. They were inside briefly, got compliments from other customers, and when they started getting a little antsy, we proactively removed them from the store. No disruption, no complaints — we just did the responsible thing. While sitting outside with our dogs, keeping them hydrated in the heat and far from the entrance, an employee from the donation department walked over — clearly saw the broken glass bottle next to me (a real safety hazard), walked right past it while “taking care of a cart,” and instead passive‑aggressively informed me that “those dogs aren’t allowed in the store.” …Which I obviously knew — I was already outside with them. Her tone and timing weren’t about policy — it was personal and petty. I work retail myself, so I understand enforcement, but ignoring an actual hazard to target a responsible customer? That’s unprofessional. To be fair, my fiancée found some solid stuff during our visit — decent finds at decent prices. But that doesn’t excuse the behavior we experienced outside. If Goodwill wants customers to keep coming back, treating them with basic respect needs to be part of the policy too. If your staff is going to approach customers outside, make it constructive — or better yet, clean up real safety issues and let responsible people be. I hope this gets addressed.
Very organized, clean and busy! Staff was friendly. Huge CD, DVD and VHS selection. Small toy section, but, the selection was in good shape. I didn't notice any junk toys. New items available. Electronics are inspected. Prices reasonable. Donation drop off out front. Closed Easter.
They are absolute scam artists. They will not check for bugs or trash in furniture, they will price 3 dollar items with the original tag for 10+, they will sell you a movie that is severely scratched, sell you dirt covered items, and try to sell normal rocks for 6 dollars. I’ve overheard a manager say “damn I was hoping they didn’t see that tag” referring to the original one being sold for 15 when the original said 6. Scam. Scam. Scam.
