Flew in for the day from Houston to play here on 8/25.. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The starter let me jump in front of the two foursomes since i was a single. The course looked like it had just been freshly cut. The tee boxes and fairways were very plush. The greens looked nice but were a little slow. It took me a few holes to get the speed down. It is a par 62 course with a lot of par 3's. Overall, i really had an enjoyable round and would play here again.
I love this course! Played it on a rainy day and the drainage I felt was impressive. Tee boxes and greens were dry, greens rolled excellently, fairways were wet in some spots but considering the rain, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was awesome, and the site is spectacular. Just a pretty part of the world and to be fortunate enough to walk it was a blessing. It's got some challenging holes, lots of bunkers protecting the greens, and the longer holes were very challenging. The 18th par 5 was my favorite hole. Would love to go back on a nicer day.
I was going to give this course a good rating but not after playing here from hole 14 on. Allow me to explain. After making the turn from 13 to 14, we had a group of four cut in front of a two-some that was in front of us all day. They made the turn from 17 and wanted to play some additional holes so they did so by cutting in front of us. This allowed them to play 14, 15,, 16, & 17 again. Then another group cut in front of the same two-some again on hole 17 only this time it was 8 drunk clowns. Then on 18 a walker decided to cut his round short and cut in front of our three-some. I objected but was ignored. Hacked off we teed off and then waited in the fairway to finish and to my total dismay I saw six guys putting out on the 18 green. No clue where the large group came from. There were about 16-20 of them though. We never saw this large group all day. So I left without finishing my round because they were in no hurry to leave the green and we had been out for over 4.5 hours by then. To say it was backed up and slow would be another understatement. We waited on every tee box because there was no separation. I kind of expected that on what is mostly a par three course but not as bad as this was. Conditions were OK but the greens had some bare spots, not on all holes but a good majority. The warmup green was in terrible shape as well. I will say there were plenty of water cans on the course but saw many non-golfers using them and refilling large water bottles. I never saw anyone refilling the water cans though. I would never play here again based on the nonsense I experienced here today. It is too bad because this could have been a good place to practice your par three game. A Marshall would fix this too.
