had such a wonderful stay at the Georgian Bay Hotel in Collingwood. From the moment I checked in, Clovis greeted me with such warmth and friendliness — he truly set the tone for my entire visit. It’s rare to meet someone who makes you feel so welcome right away, and I really appreciated how genuine and helpful he was. The rest of the staff were just as accommodating and always made sure I had everything I needed. My room was spotless, comfortable, and quiet — exactly what I was hoping for. You can tell that the team takes pride in keeping everything clean and well looked after. Between the great service, the cozy room, and the overall atmosphere, I felt completely at ease the whole time. On top of that, the location is perfect — just minutes from downtown Collingwood and the beauty of Georgian Bay. Being able to enjoy the area during the day and come back to such a welcoming hotel in the evening made the trip even more special. It’s experiences like this that make you want to come back, and I absolutely will be returning on my next trip to Collingwood. A big thank-you to Clovis and the entire team for making my stay so enjoyable.

I stayed at this hotel recently. The first suite I was given had a very unpleasant smell — it seemed like someone had cooked something strong before my arrival, and the odor was unbearable. I reported it right away, but the room was only changed the next day. This could have easily been handled the same day, and the cleaning staff should pay more attention to such issues. No complaints about the staff — everyone was polite and helpful. The pool, although small, was well-maintained, and the same goes for the gym. However, the rooms themselves feel outdated and could really use some renovation. The location is great, only about 7 minutes from the Blue Mountain core. Would I come back? Definitely not.

Disappointing Experience After Years of Loyalty - A Cautionary Tale ”ve been a regular guest at the Georgian Bay Hotel for the past four or five years, coming up to enjoy Blue Mountain without being stuck right in the village. It was always a bit of a no-frills, “dated decor but affordable” kind of place. I didn’t mind the slightly grungy pool because the price was right, the rooms had kitchenettes, and it was a comfortable base. However, this year, things took a turn. I booked my stay well in advance with a non-refundable rate, which I fully understand comes with certain restrictions. Life happens, though, and sadly, my family needed to change plans due to my father’s passing. We decided to honor him with a family gathering over the Family Day weekend, and I reached out (through multiple channels) to see if the hotel could just shift my booking to another date or even let me transfer the reservation to someone else. Well, apparently, that was a no-go. Despite several days of back-and-forth, the hotel chose to be inflexible. They wouldn’t let me change the date or even the guest name, even though I offered to pay any fair difference in rates. Honestly, I would’ve been happy to reschedule to a quieter time, which would’ve let them re-book my original room for the busy holiday weekend anyway. Win-win, right? Apparently not. In the end, they stuck to their policy with zero flexibility. So I’m leaving this review to say I won’t be back, and I’ll gladly stay somewhere like Living Stone next time—less than a 10-minute walk away and a nicer overall experience. To any future guests: If you value flexibility and customer service, there are definitely better-managed hotels around. But hey, if you’re a fan of rigid rules and a time capsule pool, maybe you’ll feel right at home. 😉
