Fox Hollow Golf Course

First time playing at Fox Hollow and I had a great experience! I was invited by a friend to join her work social club’s annual golf tournament. As someone who just started golfing this year, I found the course awesome with a nice mix of hole types, both long and short ranges, and even a view of downtown and Nose Creek. It’s welcoming for players at all levels. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Overall, a great day on a great course. I’d definitely come back!

Nice enough course for the price. The front 9 is a bit boring and narrow. Almost every hole there are people hitting into adjoining fairways so a helmet might be advised. I found the courtesy of other players lacking, nobody yelling fore but that's not the courses fault, there are signs everywhere asking people to use their big boy voices to warn others. The back 9 had a better layout and was quite a bit quieter. The only downside is the homeless encampment along the railroad tracks but again, not the courses fault, it's on city property. The staff that we encountered were friendly and the restaurant was reasonably priced with fairly good food and selection.

This course prioritizes revenue over player experience, crowding tee times into a short window to maximize profits rather than allowing a reasonable pace of play. For the same price, there are many other courses in Calgary where golfers can enjoy their round without constant interference from staff. This was my first and last time here. I have been golfing recreationally with my family for nearly 20 years, and this was by far the most disappointing experience I have had. The course manages players as if they were in a professional tournament, with no regard for those playing for leisure. On the front nine alone, the marshal approached us five separate times to demand that we speed up, turning it into a stressful experience. We had a cart, moved efficiently, and were never once caught by the group behind us each time we looked back, they were still teeing off while we were already on the green finishing up. At one point, we were even instructed to skip a hole, which is unacceptable given the pace we were maintaining. When we raised concerns, the response was a half-hearted apology and a sleeve of golf balls, coupled with repeated claims that we we should have been approached twice but we were still holding up play. The real issue was not our pace, but the course’s deliberate decision to funnel too many players into a compressed schedule to maximize revenue. For the disruption, the front nine should have been compensated. DO NOT go to this golf course there are better options in Calgary.
