Diamond Hills Sports Club and Spa

When you read the negative reviews of Diamond Hills Sports Club in Oakley, CA, there is one consistent theme: poor management. I rarely take the time to write negative reviews, but my recent experiences leaves me no choice. After being a member for approximately 15 years, it has become clear that the current General Manager, Margie Duignan, is ineffective and is causing Spare Time to lose members at an alarming rate. In my experience, she does not value members. There is a noticeable arrogance and a retaliatory behavior when concerns are raised so be aware. There are also lies and manipulation weaponized against members occurring that warrants SERIOUS attention. Even more alarming is that the corporate office does not address complaints and appears to have no transparent process for member escalations continuing to enable key roles and manipulate members. There is simply no oversight and accountability. It is my hope that this review finally gets the attention of Spare Time’s leadership or their owners as a privately held company. Someone at corporate should respond to my ongoing concerns regarding their General Manager, Margie Duignan, because her actions are directly harming member experiences and the club’s reputation. I have been requesting a meeting with corporate leadership on this issue since September 2025 and there has been no response from anyone. This negative review could have been easily been avoided if Spare Time responded to member dissatisfaction concerns against the actions of their General Manager and investigated them. Thank you.

It’s a pretty good club! Cleanliness of the showers have improved and overall good variety of classes and equipment. Billing could be a bit of a hassle since there are some fees that are charged that are not in the contract and that does not seem right, but overall, this is the best club we have in our suburban area, so not a lot to choose from. Sort of like PGE-love them or hate them, but that’s the only option-) not a lot of responsiveness from the management if there are issues and I actually had an issue using a free guest pass that was given to me during member appreciation day, which was also odd. Spoke to the corporate billing today and the lady would not listen and talk over me offering irrelevant solutions without even understanding my request. So overall, 4/5, but I’m sure the grass is greener where there is more competition-)

Well maintained Sports club and spa, with facilities like multiple swimming pool, tennis court, pickle ball court, basketball and various gym equipment. They also offer several free classes for members. Great place to become a member.
