A Hidden Gem for Families and Golfers of All Ages – Cranbury Golf Club, West Windsor, NJ I had the pleasure of playing Cranbury Golf Club yesterday with my two teenage sons, and I have to say—it was one of the most refreshing and enjoyable golf outings we’ve had in a long time. We teed off around 4 PM after warming up for about 30 minutes on their well-maintained driving range, which offers both grass and mat hitting areas. The facility was buzzing, but not crowded, and the vibe was laid-back and welcoming. Dan, the staff member on site, was incredibly friendly and accommodating—he set the tone for a great day. One of the standout features at Cranbury is their no GPS cart restrictions. Unlike many courses that force you to reverse out of zones every few minutes with annoying beeps, here you can drive the cart with freedom. Of course, I was respectful and avoided getting too close to the greens, but as someone with weak knees, this freedom was a huge plus. My older son opted to walk the full 18 while I drove the younger one—it worked out perfectly. We wrapped up our round around 8:15 PM as the last cart to come in, and again, no stress. Dan was there to greet us, but there were no alarms, no pressure, and no reminders about sunset cut-offs. That unhurried atmosphere was a real treat. It allowed us to focus on enjoying the game and each other’s company, not watching the clock. And let’s talk value—$30 for a twilight round? That’s a steal. Even better, we learned that junior golfers can play for as little as $5 through local programs, or get unlimited yearly play for just $650 if they’re under 17. That kind of pricing is practically unheard of in New Jersey. What truly warmed my heart was seeing so many teenagers and young players out on the course. As a father of two teens who are getting serious about golf, it was incredibly uplifting to see kids out there enjoying the game, competing, laughing, learning. It’s rare to see that many young people on a course these days—most are dominated by older crowds. Cranbury feels like a place that truly welcomes the next generation of golfers. All in all, Cranbury Golf Club is a fantastic place to play—especially if you’re looking for a relaxed, family-friendly course that lets you enjoy the game on your own terms. We’ll definitely be back.
A very good public golf course. The greens are challenging and bunkers are amazing. It is a very popular golf course in Central Jersey. It would be great to have food/drinks cart service. We did not see any. The only way was to pause, go to restaurant for refreshments. I will go there again though.
First time playing there today. Staff was friendly and course was looking pretty good. Some of the fairways were burnt out and mostly dirt but the greens were in good shape and rolled pretty consistently throughout the course. Pace of play was slower. It took over five hours for our round but it’s a weekend so that can be expected. Rangers were all over us to play faster but we still had to wait at the next tee box even when picking up balls after bad shots. Therefore I don’t feel like it was an issue with our pace…they cram in too many tee times. I see this at many other courses too. Tee times were ten minutes apart and everyone was jammed up all day. The course is tight and somewhat more dangerous than others. People constantly yelling “fore!” And hitting into other players. Another golfer even hit a ball into our cart while we were sitting & waiting. I saw multiple close calls and balls flying everywhere from other holes into ours. They have a driving range on site which is always a plus but it’s shorter and they won’t let you hit off tees. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back but maybe not during a weekend. Courses should be less greedy and space out their tee times.
